    STABILITRAK ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM

    Standard StabiliTrak helps Colorado surround you in 360 degrees of safety. This system helps improve vehicle stability, particularly during emergency maneuvers. StabiliTrak also includes Proactive Roll Avoidance, which reduces the risk of a rollover. Here's how StabiliTrak works:

    The StabiliTrak control module compares your steering input with the truck's actual response and then, if necessary, makes small, individual brake applications to enhance control and keep you on track.

    StabiliTrak automatically intervenes when it senses loss of lateral traction (sideslip), understeer (plowing) or oversteer (fishtailing).

    In these situations, the system applies brake pressure and, if necessary, adjusts engine torque to help the driver get the vehicle back on track.

    2009 Chevy Colorado is backed by the best coverage in America: The 100,000 mile/5-year(1) transferable Powertrain Limited Warranty plus Roadside Assistance and Courtesy Transportation Programs.

    All Chevy vehicles registered in the U.S.A. come with a New Vehicle Limited Warranty and are covered for 3 years/36,000 miles.(1) The complete vehicle is covered, including tires, towing to your nearest Chevrolet dealership and cosmetic corrosion resulting from defects. Repairs will be made to correct any vehicle defect, and most warranty repairs will be made at no charge. In addition, rust-through corrosion will be covered for 6 years/100,000 miles.(1)

    VORTEC 5.3L V8 ENGINE

    Standard in Sport and available in Extended and Crew Cab Z85 and Z71, the Vortec 5.3L V8 engine generates 300 hp @ 5200 rpm and 320 lb.-ft. of torque @ 4000 rpm.

    This engine is smartly engineered to be powerful, efficient and durable and includes:

    • Standard Hydra-Matic four-speed automatic transmission
    • A cast-iron crankshaft with undercut and rolled fillets
    • Cast-aluminum cylinder heads that feature a low-friction roller-rocker valvetrain
    • Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) that provides outstanding throttle response, greater reliability and improved efficiency
    • A fast, smart Engine Control Module (ECM) with plenty of memory synchronizes the multitude of engine operations that occur every split second
